My name is Lexi O'Brion and I am a currently a senior at Ronald Reagan High School. When looking at my work it is easy to notice that the mediums of my work vary. It is not only encouraged in my class, but I very much appreciate being creative with different mediums and finding new methods to how I create work overall. Diving into the mass of mediums has helped me to explore artists that I am able to use for inspiration in my pieces as well as the history that comes with them. My theme throughout most of my works are connected tot he idea of exploring different aspects in culture. Culture can signify you're family's history, but can also be modern culture. I believe it's important to be informed on how all types of culture can affect your life. So, often I keep track of the new knowledge I am exploring everyday and put it into focus in my art. The venture in art has allowed me to understand that expression is important and art is a void that can be used for the purpose of using creative skills for a voice. Oskar Kokoschka has impacted me on the way I view art as a way to give a voice to something that needs a voice. I have been given the opportunity to show my work to large audiences such as the Pyramax Bank and Milwaukee Art and Design (MIAD) summer pre-college gallery. I have also participated in art critiques with MIAD and University of MIlwaukee (UWM). Exploring art even more I was given the opportunity to attend MIAD's pre-college program during my junior year summer. After taking part in the program I learned to magnify my skills in drawing and prints while educating ourselves with the impact geography has on us daily.
